In this video I show a sample upper body push workout for chest, shoulders, and triceps using only the Powertec Streamline Functional Trainer.

This is Part 2 in a series. In Part 1, I performed an upper body pull workout for back, biceps, and traps using only the Powertec Streamline Functional Trainer.

My system of training is low volume and high intensity, which is largely inspired by Dante Trudel’s DC Training Program.

  1. Great video. With there being just one weight stack, doesn’t it allow one arm to somewhat compensate for the other? Wouldn’t a stack on each side force each arm to “carry its own weight” lol. Also, I would like to see the guide rods uncovered so that it would be easy to add silicone spray to help reduce the friction you mentioned. Definitely agree about the numbering on each side. Would love to see lasered numbers, maybe every other hole to help reduce cost but still be a permanent identifier. Having the weight stack plus the weight horns is one of the things I like most about it, but if they wanted to include some band pegs that would be the icing on the cake. :)

    1. Thank you! Powertec has a deluxe functional trainer with two weight stacks, this FT is just smaller and less expensive.
With the way the pulley system is set up, one arm really can’t dominate the exercise when both arms are moving in unison.
As for the guide rods, they are exposed, they just hide behind a faceplate.
Also, I can add bands under the raised frame and loop the bands around the weight horns. I appreciate you watching!

  2. whats cool about that machine is it has pin select and weight horns..some good verity with all the adjustments too..

    1. Agreed! The weight horns are a major selling point. The stack is an add on, but Powertec has one of the only machines that offers both.

  3. Have you heard of clmbr… i just saw it ..i heard it burns 60 percent more than running rowing or bike..looks interesting
