Super Shoulder Workout! My 60 Plus Fitness Journey continues with today's Shoulder Day. I incorporated some strength work (Overhead Presses) and a load of dumbbell and cable work to boot.
Overhead Presses are still my nemesis but I'm making progress!
I really gave my shoulders a good going over today.
This was a good one!

Hey Gang! Another early morning workout for this 61 year old. Today I hit my Shoulders pretty good! I started with some Overhead Presses as my Strength movement and finished with a load of dumbbell and cable work. I got a fabulous shoulder pump with this workout!

Being able to do an overhead barbell press that’s just over 2/3 of your body weight isn’t anything to sneeze at. Good job there, Mark! Maybe your back looks wider than your chest because you love doing pull ups, barbell and dumbbell rows, and lat pull downs versus doing a bench press? You’ve explained why you don’t like to do bench presses, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There are other ways to work on chest development, like stretch or ‘raised’ push ups and flat bench or incline bench chest flys. I don’t have a bench, so I do these on the floor, and I think it’s safer for me as the floor prevents my elbows from dropping too far below the bench on the eccentric movement. You might not have that problem, as your strength is superior to mine, but doing those exercises with lighter weights, say 20 or 25 pounds, might prove to be safe and effective, although, I don’t know how much weight you’re used to working with when you do those movements. I think your traps looked particularly big in some of these shots today…and good for you to give props to the missus for helping document today’s workout!
Good workout! OHP is a brutal exercise to progress on. Takes weeks (or even months) to add weight to the bar. Also, I haven’t seen someone driving stick in years, brought me back to my last stick shift car I had in the 90’s….
