The obliques are an absolute must when it comes to developing an aesthetic physique. For those of you unaware, these are the gill looking muscles that run along side the abs. The importance of the obliques cannot be overstated when it comes to aesthetic appeal and physical performance. The problem is that they can be very easy to neglect, and that’s exactly what a lot of people choose to do. The obliques are a multi functional muscle, they act to pull the chest downwards and compress the abdominal cavity, as well as performing side bending and opposing side rotation. There’s no doubting that your mid section WILL drastically improve by making the conscious decision to improve your obliques
The lower abs is another area where a lot of people tend to neglect. The main issue with that is the exercises that focus more so on the lower abs are more challenging and ultimately more beneficial then the commonly executed crunch variations. With that being said, always keep in mind that training is only one part of the equation. And if you have unwanted belly fat, your concern must also be in regards to your nutrition. No good workout regimen can thrive long term without a good nutritional backing. Make sure you are fuelling your results, both in and out of the gym.
